The Apprentice Automation Challenge Challenge (AAC) STEM Lead
Lead STEM outreach activities at the annual AAC competition for design innovation and manufacturing.
The Apprentice Automation Challenge (AAC) provides a brilliant opportunity for talented apprentices to compete in an innovative design and manufacturing challenge to automate an everyday device.
Local schools and colleges are invited to attend the AAC Finals. At the event they take part in related STEM activities, learn about engineering careers (especially technical and vocational routes) and interact with Challenge participants and engineers.
The AAC STEM Lead is responsible for coordinating the AAC education outreach programme each year.
Time commitment and location
There are quarterly AAC organising committee meetings held virtually. The competition is one day each year and hosted in Coventry.
Requirements and training
The AAC STEM Lead needs be a registered STEM Ambassador with a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Registration is carried out by STEM Learning UK. Find out more about how to register as a STEM Ambassador.

IMechE Education outreach training is recommended and freely available online, with some face-to-face sessions throughout the year.
