Education
Education officer
Support and help coordinate local education outreach activities within your local area. Each of the IMechE’s 16 UK regions has a Regional Education Officer (REO) who is a member of their regional committee, working to achieve the Institution’s education and skills goals.
The REO is supported by Education Officers and they are responsible for coordinating education outreach activities across the region. Education Officers lead education outreach activities at a local level, while the REOs coordinate across the region.
This role is ideal for a member with a background in or strong affinity to engineering education.
Time commitment and location
On average local committee meetings happen quarterly and can be in person or virtual. To find out more about your closest one, you can visit NEAR YOU. Participation in education related events will also be required.

Education Officers need to be registered STEM Ambassadors with a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Registration is carried out by STEM Learning UK.
Online GDPR training as you will have access to and use of personal contact information.
IMechE Education outreach training is recommended and freely available online, with some face-to-face sessions throughout the year.
