The Regional Strategy Board (RSB) represents the Learned Society element of the Institution.
About you
Eligibility & Person Specification Nominees for RSB Chair must:
Be a current member of the Institution.
Be a current or past UK & Ireland Regional Chair
Previously sat on the Regional Strategy Board for a minimum of a year.
Not be a member of the Trustee Board
If successfully elected to the position of RSB Chair, you would be required, where applicable, to step down their role as Regional Chair.
This must be completed within two months of taking office as RSB Chair.
Have a high level of understanding and interest in the issues of regional members.
Have proven leadership skills. Commitment Engagement and participation are key. It is expected that the RSB Chair will need to allocate an average of 1 day per week to the role.
What you will do
Attend a minimum of 3 x RSB Committee meetings (virtual/ face to face)
Represent the RSB at Institution events when necessary.
Attend regular telecon with RSB secretariat Responsibilities.
Chair the RSB Committee.
Act as the main point of contact for UK & Ireland Regions.
Ensure good communication and best practice is achieved within RSB.
Ensure all decisions are acted on.
Ensure there is an active officer succession plan in place.
Ensure adherence to good governance across the UK & Ireland regional network in particular ensuring the Volunteer Handbook and RSB Terms of Reference are kept up to date.
Oversee the work of the UK & Ireland Regions.
Execute the IMechE Business Plan within the RSB committee.
Encourage active involvement of all committee members.
Report to Trustee Board* when requested to do so and provide feedback on the activities and development within the RSB.
Review and approve the formation of new regional panels & committees.
Review and approve meeting papers, minutes, agendas and documents with the RSB Secretariat.
Correlate an annual budget request from IMechE HQ to carry out IMechE activities for the following year.
Set regional budgets in consultation with IMechE HQ.
Review and approve RSB Chair’s Funding proposals.
Raise awareness of engineering to the younger generation.
How much time it will take
The Regional Strategy Board meets on average four times a year, and you should attend. Board members are also expected to attend Council meetings. Bi -Monthly call with RSB Secretariat.
