The Institution is seeking experienced and enthusiastic professionals to join the Education & Skills Strategy Board (ESSB).

About you

These roles provide an exciting opportunity to help shape the Institution's education and skills strategy, ensuring it reflects emerging technologies, professional standards, workforce needs, and regional priorities. We are looking for individuals with experience in areas such as engineering, technical leadership, research and innovation, accreditation, professional registration, education, skills development, workforce development, outreach, or regional leadership.

We would particularly welcome people who have knowledge or experience of working with our Technical Strategy Board (TSB), Qualifications & Membership Board (QMB), & Regional Strategy Board (RSB). But experience of working on similar or equivalent committees would also be valued.

What you will do

As a voting member of ESSB, you will: 

  • Act as the key link between ESSB and your respective Board (TSB, QMB, or RSB).
  • Provide expert insight to inform education and skills strategy development.
  • Share updates and intelligence between both Boards.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and alignment across the Institution.
  • Contribute to discussions on future skills requirements, workforce development, professional standards, technical priorities, and regional challenges, depending on your area of expertise.
  • Participate in working groups and related activities that support ESSB objectives.

How much time it will take

ESSB and each of the respective Boards meet four times per year. Members are expected to attend meetings regularly and actively contribute to discussions, working groups, and related activities.
