IMechE STEM Ambassador Training: Build your STEM Outreach Delivery and Confidence

Following the success of the pilot STEM Ambassador training series in 2021, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers is delighted to announce new training dates for 2022.

The IMechE is offering a series of free CPD training sessions to inform and develop its STEM Ambassador cohort. The training has been coordinated by Jelena Gacesa, IMechE Education Outreach & Safeguarding Lead and will be delivered by Alexandra Knight who will be supported by representatives of the IMechE’s network of Regional Education Officers.

The series will include a mix of presentation and discussion, as well as hands on practical activities. The CPD trainings will provide the opportunity for members to engage and learn from each other, as well as develop their skillset. We encourage members to join-in live with the practical element using basic household resources to build confidence in delivering STEM activities.

Three of the four sessions will run online via 1-hour live Zoom webinars for up to 100 STEM Ambassadors from July-November 2022. Each session will be recorded and made available on demand thereafter.

On 13 October 2022 the IMechE will host its first in-person STEM Ambassador all-day workshop since the pandemic and places will be made available to the first 50 STEM Ambassadors that register! The IMechE will provide lunch, refreshments and all of the resources required.

The STEM activities which will be demoed are from the IMechE STEM at Home range, but may be simplified slightly. The IMechE STEM at Home, Impact Evaluation Form and STEM Toolkit webpages will be referred to throughout the trainings and all STEM Ambassadors encouraged to use these valuable resources.
