Widely recognised, the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to become a more effective project manager.

A rigorous and intensive qualification, the APM Project Management (PMQ) will sharpen your skills as a project manager and enhance your career prospects. Once you have passed the associated exam you will be awarded a professional qualification that is recognised worldwide.

The syllabus is based upon the new Body of Knowledge (BoK), 7th edition. The sessions will include discussions, exercises, case studies and example questions, making it very practical and highly interactive. This method has proven to be the most effective in ensuring that you are well equipped to pass the exam. Likewise, for those who only want the knowledge (and have little desire to be certified), you’ll find the content stimulating and relevant.

PMQ is a knowledge-based qualification that allows candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management. Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact and how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment. PMQ is a qualification recognised both nationally and internationally, giving candidates a qualification that can be carried from one job to another or from one industry to another.

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) covers all areas from the newest version of the APM BoK (Body of Knowledge). Being fully conversant with each of these areas is considered fundamental to the professional management of projects.

Given the intensive nature of the syllabus, the course requires at least two hours of study each evening, with personal feedback given by the tutor the following day.

The course lasts five days, starting between 9-9:30am and finishing between 4:30-5pm.

All participants will undertake the online exam in the classroom on the final day of the course. In order to sit the exam, you will be required to bring a laptop with you.

About the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is the flagship qualification of the Association for Project Management. Tens of thousands of project managers have chosen to obtain the internationally recognised IPMA (International Project Management Association) Level D certification.

Who should attend?

This qualification is suitable for engineers and non-engineers involved in managing projects in any industry already using some formal project management processes and methods.

Applicants typically have some pre-existing project management knowledge, and we recommend a minimum of two years’ practical experience of working in a project environment.

How will I benefit?

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

• Apply the principles of project management to your project.
• Demonstrate your competence as a project manager.
• Explain the benefits of project management to your organisation.
• Confidently sit the APM PMQ exam with a clear understanding of what is required to pass.

Please note the following:

Suitability assessment
All potential delegates must undertake a short competence assessment with the APM to confirm their suitability and readiness for the course and exam. The assessment benchmarks your performance against the 29 competences in the APM framework.

The assessment can be found here: APM Competence Framework Assessment
(Please note you will need to create a free account on the APM website)

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your suitability following your assessment results, please contact us.

Mandatory pre-course work
Please note there is some pre-work which must be completed prior to attendance and forms an essential part of the course.  This will be provided in an interactive eLearning format and it's expected that it will take approximately 4 hours to work through, so you must ensure you are able to schedule enough time to complete it before the course.

Homework
During the course, attendees will be asked to do some exam preparation each evening. This must be submitted to the tutor that evening, and feedback will be given the following day so that you can course correct, fill knowledge gaps, and ensure that you are well-equipped for the final exam.

About the exam
All participants will undertake the three-hour online exam in the classroom on the final day of the course. In order to sit the exam, you will be required to bring a laptop with you.     Exemptions PRINCE2 Practitioner If you hold the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification, you have already been assessed against 12 of the 37 topics covered by the PMQ Qualification. This means you qualify for exemptions and can sit a two-hour instead of a three-hour exam.
