Becoming a student Affiliate

Affiliate Membership is suitable for students studying an appropriate degree or those on an apprenticeship scheme.

How to apply

To apply for Affiliate membership, please complete the application form online or download the application form here and post it, along with any supporting documentation required, to:

Membership fees

There is no cost to join as an Affiliate if you are an undergraduate student on an Engineering degree or on an engineering apprenticeship. Whilst you are studying as an undergraduate you will receive free Affiliate membership of IMechE and many benefits including:

• Access to career developer, our suite of online reporting tools, enables you to record your professional engineering experiences as soon as you start your industrial placement    
• Online access to PE magazine
• Networking opportunities at our regional conferences and events near you
• Access to our resources including one of the best engineering libraries in the UK
• Discounted rates on events and training courses organised by the Institution

After graduating you will be ready to become an Associate member of IMechE, and benefit from the post nominals 'AMIMechE' after your name, demonstrating commitment to your developing career.
