Apprentice of the year 2012

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is delighted to launch the Apprentice of the Year Award 2012 after a hugely successful competition in 2011, crowning Jennifer Harvey the winner. This exciting initiative will recognise the valuable contribution apprentices make to the profession.

Eligibility

To enter the Apprentice of the Year Award, an apprentice has to be enrolled on an advanced or modern engineering apprenticeship in 2012. Entrants must also be a current EngTech Affiliate member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

The winner

The winner will receive an educational grant of £500 to support your career development and will be invited to receive their award at the Institution’s Vision Awards, held in London in September 2012.

Highly commended entrants will be sent a certificate in recognition of their achievement.

The winner and highly commended entrants will also be asked to feature in promotional material for future awards. This might be in the form of a case study, photos taken at the awards or website articles.

Entry procedure

Apprentices can either nominate themselves or can be nominated by their company or college. Nominations can't be accepted from friends or family members. The closing date for entries is the 30 June 2012. After this date, all applications will be assessed by our team of judges and the winner will be notified by the end of July 2012.

You will need a sponsor to co-sign your application form. This should be someone from your company or college. It shouldn’t be a family member.

College or company nominators

If you are a college tutor or run an apprenticeship scheme in your company, you can nominate your outstanding apprentices to become Apprentice of the Year.

Simply fill out the nominators form explaining your choice and send it to the Marketing Department at the address above.
