Profile

  • Develops appropriate solutions for engineering problems, using new and existing technologies
  • May design and apply new technologies
  • May promote advanced designs and design methods
  • May pioneer new engineering services and management methods

Typical academic requirements
MEng qualification
or
*BEng honours + further learning (can include MSc qualifications)

Typical professional experience
You need to have gained sufficient professional experience in order to meet the Engineering Council's competencies. For a typical engineer this will take around four or more years to achieve.

IEng

Profile

  • An ability to act as exponents of today's technology through creativity and innovation
  • Maintaining and managing applications of current and developing technologies
  • Variously engaged in technical and commercial management

Bachelors Degree
or
HND with further learning

  • Competent in exercising creative aptitudes or skills within defined fields of technology
  • Contributes to the design, development, manufacture, commissioning, operation and maintenance of products, processes and systems

Currently active in the engineering field and able to demonstrate sufficient professional experience in order to meet the Engineering Council competencies.
