Developing Engineers
Graduates and Undergraduate Students
To register on MPDS you will need
- a company scheme on which to register – see organisations that run accredited and registered schemes
- a mentor – see below
- non-corporate membership of the IMechE. This can be applied for at the same time as registering on the scheme. It may be either
Affiliate – undergraduate student
Associate – graduate engineer
Academic requirements to meet CEng/IEng
As well as your professional development, you will need to meet the academic requirements for CEng or IEng before you can apply. Find out if you meet the requirements here
Mentors
You will need to be registered with EC(UK) as CEng or IEng to mentor a Young Engineer to professional registration. Please read the information available in the “Be a Mentor” pages before undertaking this responsibility. Non-registered engineers can act as a delegate mentor(link) to provide daily guidance to the young engineer “on the job” provided a CEng or IEng is registered to approve reports.
