Change of Company

  • Once you are registered MPDS is transferable. This means you can continue to develop through the MPDS should you decide to change employers.
  • You can transfer to a non-accredited company provided you have already been on MPDS for at least 9 months.
  • You must inform IMechE when you leave your current organisation, and re-register at the new company within 2 months of starting there.
  • If you were previously registered as an undergraduate, and are continuing MPDS with the same company, please complete a MPDS registration form.

Before you leave your first organisation

  • Make sure that your reports are completed, up-to-date and approved by your mentor.
  • If on MPDS as an undergraduate, send a copy of your Interim Assessment report to IMechE

When starting with your new organisation

  • Make sure your membership subscription fees are up to date. If your annual subscription is not paid, it will result in your MPDS being automatically terminated.
  • Complete the Transfer form and return to us within 2 months of commencing Initial Professional Development with your new employer. Enclose copies of your 3 most recent approved quarterly reports.
  • If you have a new mentor and they are not registered as a mentor with us, please ask them to complete the Mentor registration and include it with your transfer.
  • If your company transfer form is incomplete it will be held awaiting the missing information before processing. This can delay your commencement on MPDS so it is important to check that all information is provided and is accurate, particularly contact details for your mentor. You must take responsibility for your development by ensuring we receive timely advice and the right information.
  • If you are transferring to a non-accredited organisation you must provide a Development Action Plan with your transfer form. This will be assessed by a Professional Development Advisor.
