QUALIFICATION: Diploma in Management from the Chartered Management Institute for IMechE Chartered Engineers
A unique opportunity is available to all CEng members of the IMechE. Delivered by CMI Enterprises (of the Chartered Management Institute), the Diploma in Management for Chartered Engineers provides a 50% exemption based on prior learning and can be completed in a shortened time frame than the regular open programme, through a combination of formal home study and 5 compulsory attendance days held at the IMechE premises at 1 Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London. Additionally, on completion of the diploma, and a 360 degree exercise and panel interview, the award of Chartered Management Status may be achieved with the CMI.

The Cost of the Diploma is £2,155 + VAT
Progression toward Chartered Manager is provided through the CMI at a discounted rate on successful completion of the Diploma.
Eligibility

The Diploma in Management is a qualification ideally suited to first line managers or new middle managers, and those who are looking to expand their management skills, potential and business knowledge. Chartered Manager formally recognises skills and experience, and for organisations demonstrates a return on investment in people. All participants must already be IMechE Chartered Engineers.

A one day induction
- Four modules of self study including four one day workshops Completion of an assessment learning log for each module
- A work related project of approximately 5000 words An external assignment of 2500-3000 words
- A work based assignment of approximately 3000 words

Participants embarking on the Diploma in Management for Chartered Engineers should have some current management experience and wish to expand their management potential and business knowledge. Also, participants need to be capable of undergoing a programme of study at this level. All participants must already be qualified Chartered Engineers.
Mode of delivery
This is an open programme where participants attend with managers from various other organisations benefiting from sharing of ideas and networking.
All workshops will be delivered at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers head office, 1 Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London SW1H 9JJ
Progression
The programme meets the entry requirements to the Chartered Management Institute’s Executive Diploma in Management programme, for those wishing to progress their qualification to a senior level.
On completion of the diploma, candidates can progress to Chartered Manager status with exemption from the CPD and business impact elements of the award and on completion a 360 degree exercise and panel interview to gain recognition as a Chartered Manager.
