Schools Ambassadors are involved in a multitude of activities which are geared towards inspiring the next generation and challenging the misconceptions which exist about careers in engineering.
Their roles range from acting as a helper at events such as Formula Student or Greenpower, delivering presentations and giving careers advice at school events to organising activities that bring real-life experiences of engineering to young people by providing work based placements.
Please look at the FAQs in the Education theme section for general information on the IMechE and Education.
IMechE Ambassadors who wish to work with schools and students are required to join the Science and Engineering Ambassador (SEA) scheme which is run by STEMNET. This allows you to obtain a free Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and undertake training with STEMNET, as well as benefiting from other volunteering opportunities in the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in schools.
You can join the SEAs programme by registering as a Science and Engineering Ambassador.
