Overview
There is an increasing need and desire in industry to utilise new and novel technology relating to the performance of inspection of pressure equipment. This relates to the performance of, for example, remote visual inspections rather than the development of new NDT technology.
Inspection managers need to have safer methods of performing inspection of pressure equipment, often in hazardous environments, and are increasingly looking to automated and remote methods involving drones, free swimming devices, crawlers and other non-invasive methods.
With this in mind, the Non Invasive Inspections Technologies seminar will provide all engineers and safety professionals with a thorough technical overview of state of the art equipment to carry out inspections. Hear case study presentations from site operators and learn the lessons for inspecting previously inaccessible areas while balancing need for safety and reduced costs.
Confirmed speakers include:
- David Glass, Mechanical Engineering Team Leader, HSE
- Gary Robinson, Senior Engineer - Pressure Systems, SSE
- Frank Van Bockel, Commercialisation & Compliance Consultancy Manager, Lloyd’s Register
- Stuart Turner, Lead Engineer Pressure Systems, BOC
Plus: hear from Doosan Babcock, Wood Plc, University of Strathclyde and more.
Key topics in 2019 include:
- How do new remote technologies compare to traditional NDT methods?
- Guidance on current regulation from Health and Safety Executive and EEMUA
- Technical overview of solutions, including drones, crawlers and swimmers
- Assessing your site's unique inspection requirements
- Successful implementations that reduce cost and increasing safety
- Case studies from industry, including Power, Petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors
- Overcoming barriers to the adoption of new technologies
Why is it important to attend?:
"The risk to personnel is high when undertaking internal inspection is boilers and pressure vessels for statutory inspections or maintenance. NII technologies reduce this risk and follow the principals of ALARP. The costs are outweighed by the information gained without having to undertake costly internal inspections. However, the results from these inspections need to be validated and substantiated prior to being accepted as a replacement for internal invasive inspections."
Edward Anderson, Senior Engineer - Pressure Vessels and Piping, Sellafield Ltd
"Acknowledgement of the limitations and promises of NDT techniques and the associated difficulties in implementation between Lab/research and deployment at site. Realisation that building FFS / ECA on NDT results without knowledge of the limitations/refinement is a dangerous predicament."
Gary Robinson: Senior Pressure Systems Engineer, SSE
