More than 50 companies will vie to be crowned the best in their category at TMMX Awards 2015.

The Manufacturer MX (TMMX) Awards were formed earlier this year by the merger of two of the industry’s existing awards programmes: The Manufacturer of the Year Awards, run by The Manufacturer, and the Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards, run by the Institution.

With a combined heritage spanning four decades, the TMMX Awards are dedicated to encouraging and promoting competitive manufacturing in the UK, and celebrating the very best in the industry annually.

This year’s combined awards will both celebrate the best-performing businesses in the manufacturing industry and provide them with free expert advice and feedback from assessors.

The Institution’s Head of Transport and Manufacturing, Philippa Oldham, said: “The Manufacturer MX Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner is set to be the one of the most glamorous and high profile nights of 2015. The 12 awards celebrate the best that UK manufacturing has to offer - from those who are leading the way in innovation and design, through to those who are focusing on the next generation, celebrating the Apprentice of the Year.

“These awards are championing the crème de la crème, providing industry-wide recognition for the achievements of organisations and their employees. Attendees of the evening will be given the opportunity to network and join in with the celebrations, showing just how manufacturing is back at the heart of the UK economy.”

The Institution’s Director of Engineering, Colin Brown, said: “The TMMX dinner is the manufacturers’ networking event of the year. It allows companies the chance to see and hear about best practice and to make new contacts to improve their own operations.

“I never cease to be surprised how entrants are keen to share their best ideas rather than keep them secret. With over 1,000 attendees expected in Birmingham at the end of November, that’s a lot of ideas to be picked up on the night.”

He said: “These are the largest and most rigorously judged awards in the sector so any company being shortlisted will have provided evidence to the judges of a superior level of understanding of what makes modern UK manufacturing so vibrant and competitive.

“Manufacturing is very much alive and well and the shortlisted companies are exemplars of what advanced manufacturing looks like in terms of sustainability, innovation and world class competitiveness.”

The winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony on Thursday 26 November 2015 at The ICC, Birmingham. During the ceremony, the industry elite will join together for an evening of celebration and networking opportunities. Special guests will include Conor La Grue, Engineering Lead, BLOODHOUND Project and Levi Roots, Musician, Entrepreneur and Founder of Reggae Reggae Sauce.
