Southern India Panel's Learned Society event

The India Branch Southern Panel of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK organised a learned society event, co-sponsored by Sarathsri E-Technologies on 20 May 2017 at Bengaluru.

The event was attended by a large number of industry experts, academia, chartered engineers and students representing several disciplines.

Vijay Raman, Chairman, Southern India Panel, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, India introduced the speakers and chaired the seminar. Prabal Sarma, Principal Regional Advisor highlighted the Institution's role in reaching out to young engineers and students to enhance their knowledge base.

Three eminent engineers spoke on a range of topics: Venkateswaran Anand, Retired General Manger, Southern Railway on "Elements of passenger rolling stock design"; Kishore Rao, Vice President Delivery Operations, Asia Pacific, QUEST Global on "Engineering and the Business Connect”; and Sathyanarayana Appia, Professor and consultant, Sarathsri E – Technologies on "Monitoring - Advances in Fault Detection and Diagnosis in Industry".

The event concluded with Ravi Kochak Chairman, India Branch, summing up the principal lessons and how to go forward; and a vote of thanks by Mir Moazam Ali, Young Member Representative, Southern India Panel, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, India.

The Southern India Panel was established in 2017 and has over 300 active members.
