London conference to feature presentations from Jaguar Land Rover and University of Leeds

Test and measurement company National Instruments is to hold its NIDays event, which aims to inspire engineers across Europe help solve some of their toughest challenges, during November.

The NIDays conferences are being held in Finland, Denmark the Netherlands and the UK. The events feature hands-on sessions with equipment and software, previews of the latest technologies, technical demonstrations and keynotes from industry leaders and experts.

Three themes are being explored at the NIDays keynotes, including the  Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Analog Data, which, according to National Instruments (NI), are no longer just trends, but are “fast becoming a reality”.

The keynotes will also cover the effect IoT is having on product design, manufacturing, infrastructure and education and why the “rate of discovery” matters in our innovation-driven world.

Test and measurement topics being covered include automated test, control and embedded design, data acquisition and software development. The hands-on sessions will provide experience with NI technologies including LabVIEW, CompactRIO, PXI and TestStand. In addition, LabVIEW users can start their certification journey via the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer Exam Preparation Class.

At NIDays London, Maxime Lecuona from Jaguar Land Rover will be discussing the creation of an innovative infrastructure for test data management and will explain how they came to inspect, analyse and report on data 20 times faster than previous methods.

Amanda Waterman and Peter Culmer from the University of Leeds and Earle Jamieson from ReSolve Research Engineering give an overview of their 20,000-person strong research project into motor and cognitive skills of children called Kinelab.
