My degree isn’t accredited – what do I need to do to become a Member?
Your degree will need to be assessed before you can complete your application for Member status. This is done by a Committee of Members, who can either accept your qualifications as meeting the standard, or they can advise alternative routes for you to achieve this, which may include Further Learning . The application form to facilitate this process can be found here. For guidance on completing this form, please call the Membership helpline on 0845 226 9191 from the UK or on +44(0)20 7304 6999 from overseas.

I don’t have a degree – how can I become a Member?
The first step is to complete an academic assessment form detailing information on previous qualifications (eg HNDs) and any courses you may have completed during your career. Once this is submitted, a Committee of Members will advise on the options you have to fill the gap in qualifications, if necessary. One option for you may be the Technical Report Option , which invites applicants to submit a report at the appropriate level (Masters for CEng/Bachelors for IEng). This is then considered by IMechE assessors, and if accepted, you will have completed the academic requirements stage.
