Who can sponsor me? I’m already a CEng/IEng Member – when can I apply to become a Fellow? Your competence has already been assessed for your CEng MIMechE registration, therefore you will now need to be able to demonstrate that you satisfy the required qualities for Fellowship to upgrade from MIMechE and be able to show evidence of CPD. More information on these qualities can be found on the Member to Fellow page.

I’m not a Member but think I have the qualities to apply for Fellow – is this possible? Fellows are elected every year who are not currently Members. You will need to apply as a new registrant but you will be expected to score highly in all the competences – a minimum of four level 4s and one level 3. If you apply for Fellow and are deemed not to be at the required level, the interviewers can recommend that you be made a Corporate Member.

Fellows must have 2 sponsors – both should be CEng or IEng registrants and at least one should be a Fellow of their Institution. If you are transferring from Member to Fellow or are an Existing Registrants , your sponsors do not need to complete the sponsor forms – a signature on the front of your application form is all that is required. If you are a new registrant applying for Fellow, your sponsors will need to complete the sponsor forms .
