There are two criteria to meet in order to become a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer through the IMechE:

The academic requirements 

These need to be at Masters level for CEng and Bachelors level for IEng.  You can achieved this by successful completion of a degree accredited by the IMechE or the equivalent. Contact our membership department for further details.

The competence requirements

Competences are developed during an engineering career and  usually take a minimum of four years for CEng and three years for IEng to acquire.
