Retired Members
The subscription fee for retired members is £56.
Retired members who are also Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) or Engineering Technicians (EngTech) pay an additional annual registration fee to the Engineering Council: £14.50 for CEngs, £13.50 for IEngs and £9 for EngTechs.
Retired members with a total annual income (including all pension income) of less than £6,000 may qualify for a reduced subscription of £28. Please contact the Subscriptions team to apply. Cases will be assessed on an individual basis.

Reduced subscriptions for financial hardship and career breaks
The reduced rate of subscription is £56.

Eligibility for the reduced subscription
The reduced rate of subscription is available to members on a career break or suffering financial hardship.
Acceptable reasons for a career break are illness, voluntary work internationally, domestic catastrophe, compulsory military service outside the UK, being a primary carer of young children and full-time relevant post graduate study.
Applicants should have an annual income of less than £14,500 or the equivalent, though in exceptional circumstances the reduced subscription may be granted to applicants with a higher income.

Duration of the reduced subscription
Reduced subscriptions are granted for one year only. Re-application must be made annually if an extension is required.
The reduced subscription is normally granted for a maximum of three years. In cases of unemployment in excess of three years, applications are referred to the Reduced Subscriptions Review group.
When granted in cases of a career break for a primary carer of young children, the reduced subscription is granted for a maximum of five years.
