Associate Membership is for any graduate with a suitable degree in engineering or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject.
Benefits of Associate membership
Associate Members are entitled to use the designation AMIMechE after their name, which shows commitment to their career. Associates can access a range of IMechE services – for example, use of the Information and Library Service, delivery of PE magazine every month, access to the Business Centre at One Birdcage Walk.
Associate Members can also use our online tool, Career Developer, to record their initial professional development progress against EC UK-SPEC competences.

Eligibility and qualification requirements
If you have any of the following qualifications, you can become an Associate Member:
- IMechE-accredited degree
- UK Engineering degree
- UK Maths, Physics or other relevant science degree Engineering Council graduate diploma
- Overseas Engineering degree which meets IMechE requirements
- Open University degree of acceptable profile

How to apply
To apply for Associate Membership, please download and complete an application form:
A scanned signature on the application form will be accepted. Don’t forget to include degree evidence with your application. Your degree evidence does not need to be authenticated. Please post your completed application form, along with any supporting documentation required, to:

To pay by direct debit and spread the cost over 10 monthly payments, download the direct debit authorisation form and send it to our Subscriptions team. All direct debit payments receive a £3 discount.
