Technical ReportThe Technical Report Option (TRO) is designed to give applicants who do not have benchmark qualifications, the option to become a Member by writing a Technical Report and having it assessed against the academic criteria for registration. To become a Member in this way, you will need to complete the Academic Assessment process and be invited to complete a Technical Report. The information provided on your academic assessment form regarding your base qualification and work-based learning will determine the length of the report you are asked to write. You should complete this as fully as possible, including the Self-Assessment form. Once the report is approved by IMechE assessors, you will be asked to attend an interview. If successful at interview, you will have met the academic requirements for Membership, but you will still need to have your engineering competence assessed through the Professional Review Report and Interview stage.
