New Registrants

Here you'll find all the information you need on how to apply for Member or Fellow, and Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer registration.

Applicants should refer to these competence statements and examples before compiling their application, or attending an interview.

To apply please complete an application form (available in both Word format and in PDF format as a separate Incorporated Engineer form and Chartered Engineer form). This needs to be accompanied by the following documents:

Sponsor forms completed by two individuals (available in Word format as a separate Incorporated Engineer form and Chartered Engineer form and in PDF format with guidance notes).
Three copies of the Development Action Plan – a template can be found in the guidance notes.
Three copies of the Professional Review Report – information on what to include and how to write it can be found in the guidance notes. Also available is a sample CEng Professional Review Report and a sample IEng Professional Review Report.
Authenticated copies of degree certificates. See the guidance notes for more information on this and acceptable about acceptable qualifications can be found in the qualification section of our website.

MPDS applicants – please use this CHECK LIST

You are not required to write a Professional Review Report to support your application if you completed MPDS less than 18 months before your submission.

MPDS applicants can submit different paperwork in lieu of a Professional Review Report. Please see the MPDS area of the website for more information.

Your application will be judged against the five UK-SPEC competences.
