Becoming a Fellow


Fellowship of IMechE is the highest class of elected membership, and is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to and innovation in mechanical engineering.

Benefits of Fellowship

Fellows are entitled to use the letters CEng FIMechE , IEng FIMechE or EngTech FIMechE (as applicable) after their name. Fellows can access a range of IMechE services – for example, use of the Information and Library Service, delivery of PE magazine every two weeks, access to the Business Centre at One Birdcage Walk, and much more. How to apply

Registrants from other Institutions

Upgrade from IMechE CEng or IEng

The IMechE has recently altered the requirements for existing IMechE Members (CEng or IEng) to upgrade to FIMechE. More information can be found on the Member to Fellow page.
