Becoming an Affiliate

Affiliate Membership is suitable for: anyone with an interest in mechanical engineering, students studying an appropriate degree or those on an apprenticeship scheme.

Benefits

Affiliates can access a range of IMechE services, for example, use of the Information and Library Service, access to the Business Centre at One Birdcage Walk, and much more. For a full range of services please view the Affiliate Member Guide.

Apply

To apply for Affiliate Membership, please complete an application form (available in both Word and PDF formats). Your original signature is required on the application form. Please post your completed application form, along with any supporting documentation required, to:

Fees

Students:
There is no cost to join as an Affiliate if you are an undergraduate student on an Engineering degree or on an engineering apprenticeship. Whilst you are studying as an undergraduate you will receive free Affiliate membership of IMechE.

After graduating you will be ready to become an Associate member of IMechE, and benefit from the post nominals 'AMIMechE' after your name, demonstrating commitment to your developing career.

Non-Students:
Affiliate Membership is not limited to students – anyone with an interest in mechanical engineering can join. Please see the relevant information on application and subscription fees. The application fee does not include the annual subscription.
