Welcome

The Tribology Group has a total budget allocation of £250 for distribution  to recognise the achievement of an engineer in the Group’s field of expertise by offering the Donald Julius Groen Prize (Serial 215).

Within this sector, The Tribology Trust Awards Committee awards the following medals:

One Gold Medal is awarded each year for some outstanding and supreme achievement in the field of Tribology.

The Tribology Gold Prize Medal - which is regarded and represented as the world’s highest award in tribology, may be of any nationality or country of residence. The presentation of the Gold Medal is an occasion of great ceremony. The award has in the past been made by British ambassadors in the case of non-UK recipients and by a Secretary of State in the case of a UK resident medallist.

The Tribology Silver Prize Medal is a national award in recognition of an exceptionally meritorious contribution to the science and technology of Tribology. Candidates for the Silver Medal may be of any nationality but must be either normally resident in the UK or working in the UK when the contribution under consideration was made.

Nominations are sought for the Gold, Silver and Bronze prize medal awards. If you would like to nominate someone then please email tribology@imeche.org.

The Tribology Bronze Award is an encouragement award for engineers and scientists working in the fields of friction, lubrication and wear, i.e., tribologists - both those working or studying full-time - who haven't yet completed their formal education and training.

The OPPORTUNITY is given FOR CANDIDATES TO NOMINATE THEMSELVES for the award. Those wishing to make an application should request a nomination form from The Tribology Trust Secretariat by emailing tribology@imeche.org.
