Re-railing Innovation

This year's London summer lecture organised by the Railway Division Young Members Committee will bring together speakers from across industry to discuss how on track plant is improving maintenance of infrastructure



Railway Challenge 2012

The main aim of the IMechE Railway Challenge is to allow teams of engineering students studying at a UK university or apprentices working in industry to compete against each other to design and manufacture a miniature (10¼” gauge) railway locomotive in accordance with a set of rules. The annual competition will conclude with a final held at a suitable location at which the teams will compete against each other to evaluate their locomotive designs.

Growing pains? How to meet the increasing demand on UK railways.

Discuss the difficulties in dealing with actual and projected growth within the rail industry. Through a series of workshops, case studies and informative lectures, experts will demonstrate how the industry has been and will be addressing this issue.
