Annual Technical Tour - Berlin and Friedrichshafen
The tour will focus on transport strategy and technical innovation with a variety of visits to transport operators, railway equipment manufacturers etc.
Join the 2012 tour and learn about:
- Provision of train services in Berlin by state owned operator DB and local operator BVG
- Urban network renaissance in Dresden
- The latest technology used by Kirow in the manufacture of cranes
- Innovative vehicle design and build by Stadler
- Designing engines with reduced emissions by MTU
This is a unique opportunity to visit sites not easily accessible and to debate with key personnel on current issues. It will appeal to both young engineers eager to learn and more senior engineers looking for new ideas or solutions to their existing issues.
This is a highly cost effective way for companies/ organisations to give their employees learning experiences which will benefit the for years to come. As many delegates from previous visits will confirm, it is also a great way on making new contacts within the rail industry.
If you are an IMechE young member please go to www.imeche.org/railway/jamesbatesgrant to find out how to apply for a grant to help with the costs of the trip. Places for this grant are limited.
