Young Member James Bates Grant

The James Bates Grant  is used to financially aid IMechE Young Members who wish to attend  the Annual Technical Tour organised by the Railway Division.

The grant awarded is up to £500. The amount awarded depends on the cost of the visit.

To qualify for this grant each applicant must be a Young Member of the IMechE (in accordance with the age discrimination act a young member is no-longer defined by age but now includes Associates and those Members who have been professionally registered for 10 years or less)

Young Members who benefit from the grants will need to prepare a report for the IMechE Trustee Board Awards Committee. This can be a joint report with the other Young Members who attended the visit.

The grant is paid after the visit and is not guaranteed until the IMechE Trustee Board Awards Committee has approved the report.

Please note that any young member who receives a James Bates Grant is ineligible for other IMechE travel awards, such as those given by the Education Awards Committee.

To apply for this grant please email railway@imeche.org Alternatively you can contact Sian Clayton on +44 (0)20 7973 1245
