New library services for 2011

New for 2011, the library is waiving all postage fees. You can now borrow books, conference and seminar proceedings and have them sent to you for free, if you are based anywhere in the EU. The library at One Birdcage Walk is the best mechanical engineering library in the world, encompassing over 90,000 items. Recent acquisitions in the process engineering field include Heat transfer in process engineering (by E Cao, McGraw Hill, 2009) and the OREDA offshore reliability data handbook (2009). Find out what the library holds and request titles via the library catalogue. To complement the main library, a core collection of electronic titles is made available via the Virtual Library. This allows members to read fulltext books and journal papers online. New process engineering e-books acquired so far this year include Chemical process equipment - selection and design (Elsevier, 2010) and Wave forces on offshore structures (Cambridge University Press, 2010).
If you can’t find the article, book or standard you require, the library can obtain it on your behalf from the British Library, and we’ve just launched a rapid supply service which will allow items to be supplied within 24 hours.
For further information about any of our services, please visit our Process Engineering subject guide or contact us.

Skills Questionnaire

The Oil, Gas and Chemical Committee of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers wish to establish the general spread of engineering skills within these important industries.  With your assistance, based on the information gathered, it is the aim of the Committee to ascertain how to best try and meet current skills requirements and seek possible solutions to avoid any future shortage of correctly trained and talented personnel.  Another aim is to establish whether the ratio of skills levels is in keeping with the wants of Industry.

The questionnaire takes very little time to complete and will hopefully assist you in the future.
