Focus of the Management Group
The core objective of the Management Group is to be the focal point for development of best practice skill in management for engineers. In order to achieve this there are four key sections:
- To be the focus of best practice management in engineering
Provide resource and gain recognition within IMechE as the management focus - To stimulate debate on management in engineering
Adopt an active role in debating management best practice - To disseminate the best practice
Use modern methods to distribute information on engineering management - Build a strong database of managers in engineering
Develop our list of contacts of experts and specialists to direct members
In the coming months we will be developing a number of initiatives that will ensure we meet these targets. We want you to share your knowledge and ideas to help us improve our technical programme and activities. In 2012 we will extend our output through:
- An interactive communication
2012 will see the launch of our management blog, where you will be updated on the latest hot management topics, upcoming events and activities and presentation tasters from our seminars; as well as having the opportunity to leave your comments, ask questions of our Board and event speakers, and share your experiences. - A knowledge database
We are currently developing an expert framework to enhance your management abilities. This framework will help you identify the skills that you need to build up and link to our upcoming seminars and courses. To get you started, Board representatives will be attending our 2012 events starting with the Essential Management Skills for Engineers conference on 18-21 April 2012. - Educational Events
We already have an established and successful seminar series available to you. In 2012 we will be building on this and introducing a number of taster sessions on motivation, team-building, finance, presentation skills and more. For more information, please contact the Event Executive.
