Prizes and Awards
The Automobile Division has to recognise the achievements of engineers in the Division’s field of expertise.
£1,000 of this total is allocated to the Crompton-Lanchester Medal which is awarded to one of the winners of the following four prizes:
Gresham Cooke Prize (Serial 208) *
The Clifford S Steadman Prize (Serial 222) *
Engineering Applied to Agriculture Award (Serial 303) *
Starley Premium Award (Serial 319) *
* No budget allocation for these four prizes Serials 208, 222, 303 and 319 (winners are put forward for the Crompton-Lanchester Medal – Serial 228).
The Crompton-Lanchester Medal (Serial 228) - £1,000 + Medal
£900 is allocated to the:
Viscount Weir Prizes (Serial 226) (for a paper/contribution read before a local meeting of the IMechE centres).
£5,000 is allocated to the:
Spencer Wilks Scholarship (Serial 404) (for study and technical training in Automobile Engineering)
The Automobile Division Centres also have the Adrian Reynard Prize to award.

The Division also makes nominations to the Trustee Board Awards Committee for the IMechE’s Major Prizes and Awards by 31 March each year:
