Fretting Fatigue and Wear - Real Life Solutions

23 September 2008

Fretting fatigue has been of concern to engineers for almost 100 years. It identifies situations where relative displacement between contacting surfaces appears to give rise to a reduction in fatigue life when compared to a plain component. Failures in actual components also have a long history and a wide range of failures has been recorded in the 20th century.

Material Properties for Finite Element Simulations - Getting it Right (Part III - Composite Materials)

11 November 2008

This one-day seminar will address the difficulties encountered by engineering analysts in obtaining reliable material properties for modelling real-life problems using Finite Element software. It will focus on composite materials, and is intended to be a continuation of the previous two IMechE Seminars on metals (held in 2005) and biomedical applications (held in 2007).
