What do people understand by Reliability – how does it relate to their own work?
“Reliability” is a word frequently used but – what is meant by it? Is it just a sub-set of maintenance? Can it be measured in a way that is relevant to my particular industry and if so, how?
Date: 26 November 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Dangerous substances can put peoples’ safety at risk from fire and explosion. DSEAR puts duties on employers and the self-employed to protect people from risks to their safety from fires, explosions and similar events in the workplace, this includes members of the public who may be put at risk by work activity.
This seminar will look at how industry is reacting to 2002-DSEAR regulations; and the requirements of operators to avoid ignition sources, these need effort to achieve compliance, maintaining compliance, but has this benefited safe operations.
Headline incidents at Buncefield, Conoco, Texas City show the damage that can be done when hydrocarbon releases ignite; and provide the media with real-life footage that can be damaging to industry.
The programme will promote the sharing of best practices through discussions and case studies; and provide an interpretation of regulations for good working practice.
Supported Events
19th AR2TS
The 19th AR2TS will be an international forum for presenting and discussing recent advances made in the general area of reliability, risk, availability and maintainability. Contributions will be provided from both the university sector and from industry. It will be of benefit to both practitioners and academics involved in this field who want to keep in touch with the latest developments and perhaps through discussion, influence the future direction of work.
The focus of the symposium is on the following topics or is related to these topics:
- Systems reliability assessment
- Risk analysis
- Safety case production / safety critical systems
- Hazard analysis
- Maintainability
- Maintenance planning, scheduling and optimisation
- Repairable systems analysis
- Failure analysis
- Availability modelling
- Integrated logistics support
- Life cycle costs
- Human reliability
- Software reliability
- Safety critical software
- Systems health monitoring
- Fault diagnostics
- Fault prognostics
- Reliability data collection and analysis
- Service system reliability
- Condition monitoring
- Accident analysis / Incident reporting
- Reliability test planning / Reliability assurance programmes
- Security
- Physics of failure
- Root cause analysis
The first call for papers will be in August 2010.
