Working Group 2: Systems Safety


Terms of Reference

Overview

The SRG is the IMechE Group which considers all aspects of Safety and Reliability, the main committee is supported by a number of working groups, of these the Engineering for Safety Working Group, considers how the Functional Safety of Mechanical systems can be designed and assured.

Primary Purpose

To identify and publicise good practice relating to the Design and Assurance of Functional Safety for Mechanical Systems.

Secondary Purpose

  1. To review and comment on Regulations, Standards, Guidance and procedures relevant to Functional and System safety.
  2. To actively promote improvements in system safety through the facilitation of conferences.
  3. Identify and sponsor appropriate guidance documents to support good practice and Regulatory compliance.

Reporting

The working group leader will report progress to the quarterly SRG Committee; this report is to be in the form of a written brief, supplied 2 weeks prior to the meeting (to enable distribution with the calling notice)

Programme

The working group is to develop and publicise a programme of activities in support of the primary and secondary purposes.

TOR Review

These TORs are to be reviewed by the SRG Committee, to ensure consistency with the aims and objectives of the SRG and across the other working groups.
