Dear Engineers,
You will be all too aware of the need for structured considerations of safety and reliability in engineering. The Safety and Reliability Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers are looking for both experienced and developing engineers to join each of their Working Groups. We would like you to consider taking part!
Serving on an Institution group committee will increase your reputation in your chosen industry and help you to build on your Continued Professional Development. As you can imagine, there is a certain amount of work and commitment involved, and members must be willing to play a dynamic role in driving activities forward. The Committee’s main output consists of organising events for the Safety and Reliability industry, looking at legislation and raising the profile of this area. We encourage all committee members to take an active role in delivering a relevant technical programme.
The committees meet four times per year. It is vital that you have the support of your employer in attending these meetings, as we encourage members to try to attend every time to provide the necessary continuity and momentum.
SRG Working Groups include:
WG1:
Engineering for Reliability - Chairman Bob Wilson
WG2:
Engineering for Safety - Chairman Jeremy Lewis
WG3: Education (new group to be established)
WG4:
Human Factors in Safety and Reliability - Chairman John Mount
We would like you to consider taking an active role in any of these groups. There is a great team spirit in each of the groups, all members are active and energetic, and we all enjoy contributing to and learning from each other!
If you would like to join the team then please send your CV to
srg@imeche.org specifying which group you would like to get involved in, please include your date of birth and whether you are a member of the Institution (with membership number).
We hope you wish to take this opportunity and look forward to welcoming you to SRG's vision of reliable and safe engineering.
Yours Sincerely
Richard Vote
Chairman SRG
