Reliability Engineering

Overview

The SRG is the IMechE Group which considers all aspects of Safety and Reliability (see Safety & Reliability Terms of Reference), The main committee is supported by a number of working groups, of these the Reliability & Maintainability Strategy Working Group, considers how the Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) of delivered systems can be optimised.

Primary Purpose 

To identify and publicise good practice relating to the optimisation of the R&M characteristics of existing systems.

Secondary Purpose 

  1. To identify and develop good practice with respect to the management and use of R&M information originating during the design phase. 
  2. To identify good operational R&M data management methodologies, to both aid in the optimisation process and to support subsequent design activity.

Reporting

The working group leader will report progress to the quarterly SRG committee, this report is to be in the form of a written brief, supplied 2 weeks prior to the meeting (to enable distribution with the calling notice)

Programme

The working group is to develop and publicise a programme of activities in support of the primary and secondary purposes.

Terms of Reference Review

These Terms of References are to be reviewed regularly by the SRG Committee, to ensure consistency with the aims and objectives of the SRG and to ensure consistency across the other working groups.
