The Railway Division has a total budget allocation of £8,200 for distribution in 2007 to recognise the achievements of engineers in the Division’s field of expertise. £1,000 of this total is allocated to the following five prizes, which one or more can be chosen up to the £1,000 budget allocation. (N.B. No prize should be less than £100). 

• Richard Herbert Innes Prize (Serial 218) 
• W A Agnew/ C N Goodall Award (Serial 313) 
• A R Bennett Premium / C S Lake (Serial 314) 
• T A Stewart-Dyer / F Trevithick (Serial 315) 
• J F Alcock Memorial Prize (Serial 328)

The remaining £7,200 is allocated to: 

• James Bates Grants (Serial 201 - £6,000) 
• Viscount Weir Prize (Serial 226 – £600) 
• George Ramshaw Curry Memorial Lecture Honorarium (Serial 249 - £300) 
• Sir Seymour Biscoe Tritton Memorial Lecture Honorarium (Serial 316 - £300)

The Division also awards the following grants every even year:
 

• Stanley Herbert Whitelegg Memorial Grants (Serial 217)

The Division also makes nominations to the Trustee Board Awards Committee for the IMechE's Major Prizes and Awards:

• The James Clayton Prize
• The Thomas Hawksley Gold Medal
• IMechE Special Needs Award
• The Safety Award in Mechanical Engineering
• The George Stephenson Prize
• The James Watt International Medal (Awarded biennially)
