Welcome to our second quarterly newsletter of 2008. Our joint food engineering committee of the Institution of the Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Food Science and Technology is expanding with a committee of 28 members from many disciplines of the food industry.
Our activities are now becoming known in the industry and the committee are presenting this October a seminar in Belfast, for Invest N Ireland, on the subject of 'Food Waste Conversion to Energy'.
Our Food Engineer of the Year Award is strongly supported by university applications. Last years prize winner was presented with the award by the Master butcher at the Livery Hall of the Worshipful Company of Butchers on the 30 January 2008. The prize is sponsored by the PM Group.
We have several regional lectures planned on the subject of food and if you have an interest please contact the IMechE at process@imeche.org We look forward to receiving your comments.
