Date: 12 May 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: London
Ever-increasing cost pressures mean that a number of companies have moved their manufacturing operations to countries with lower labour costs. However, it doesn’t have to be this way, not if established world-class methodologies are applied to pharmaceutical plants. This event will offer advice, solutions and best practice to tackle excessive lead times, high inventory, inefficient staffing, poor process control and supply-chain reliability. Benefit from the lessons of best practice, recognise the signs of success and help prevent failure.
Date: 03 June 2010
Event Type: Lecture
Location: London
HSE and the Environment Agency are working together to assess designs for new nuclear power stations that might eventually be built and operated in the UK. The unique assessment process, known as Generic Design Assessment (GDA) is a four step process designed to allow for the assessment of the designs before major nuclear constructions starts, which improves overall regulatory effectiveness and minimises regulatory uncertainty.
This Lecture is free and open to all.
Date: 16 June 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: London
As offshore oil and gas developments move to deeper water and more remote locations subsea developments become the only option. Subsea engineers must therefore work ever smarter to optimise the integrity of the equipment through good design whilst expanding the boundaries of operational capacity and availability. This seminar will examine operational challenges and share solutions to them, and provide an update on the best practice in subsea engineering design for integrity and operation.
Date: 24 June 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: London
Compliance with the ATEX directives has been mandatory for new equipment since June 2003, and for existing equipment since July 2006. There is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding this legislation and its impact on design, testing, certification and operation of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres for both users and manufacturers.
Date: 09 September 2010 - 10 September 2010
Event Type: 2 day Conference
Location: Glasgow
The IMechE symposium will explore the latest developments from industry and academia in powder and particulate solids handling in a number of priority areas of research and innovation including storage and flow, characterisation, pneumatic conveying and mechanical handling. The focus of the 3rd Bulk Solids Europe conference will be on energy. It is fascinating to realise that on the one hand energy is required to power bulk solids handling systems and that on the other hand bulk solids handling systems are required to supply the coal or biomass for power stations.
Date: 07 October 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: London
This seminar will provide an overview of the common challenges facing both the Food and Water industries such as availability and sustainable use of resources, rising costs (OPEX & CAPEX), tighter legislation, rising customer expectations, possible commercial and practical solutions to these challenges.
Date: 13 October 2010 - 14 October 2010
Event Type: 2 day Seminar
Location: London
Key figures from industry will provide an update on policy, legislation, funding issues as well as the real challenges in CCS that still remain to be solved on day one. A series of case studies will be presented from actual operational plants in the UK, Europe and USA covering the whole spectrum of processing activities through capture, transport and storage, identifying the operational flexibility obtained and issues of equipment functionality on day two.
Date: 03 November 2010
Event Type: Lecture
Location: London
As a Mechanical Engineering Graduate the world is your oyster. The first term of the final year of any degree is a stressful time as students are just getting to grips with new topics in their course but are also starting to worry about the future and what is going to happen after graduation.
You need to be able to make an informed choice. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers are bringing together students, recent graduates, some longer serving engineers and companies looking to recruit Mechanical Engineers in an informal session.
Date: 09 November 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: London
Seminar will demonstrate the selection of the correct bulk materials storage solution and the associated feed and reclaim equipment and the latest control technologies.
Date: 17 November 2010 - 18 November 2010
Event Type: 2 day Seminar
Location: London
This two day seminar will bring together leading individuals and organisations who are, or who will be, active in the LNG industry. Day one will address a range of policy and planning issues which need to be determined before detailed designs can be developed. Day two will be dedicated to the technical and engineering aspects of LNG operations.
Date: 23 November 2010
Event Type: 1 day Seminar
Location: Aberdeen
Industries that hold high-risk rates in relation to danger from fire, explosive atmospheres and exothermic reactions etc need to comply with DSEAR/ATEX regulations.
