Trust Conditions:
The Trust Funds in this Section (Part 3) were amalgamated, by agreement of the Charity Commissioners, into one IMechE Trust Fund, known as The Institution of Mechanical Engineers Trust for Education and Research, (the title under which each of the Trusts will be managed and administered). The conditions for the Trust are given below. Where existing Trusts have more specific requirements these are shown separately.
This Trust shall be used to promote education (including training) in mechanical engineering, and subjects related thereto, of mechanical engineers or those intending to become mechanical engineers. In particular it will be used:
- in awarding bursaries, grants, maintenance allowances - at any school, university, college of education or of further education
- to provide financial assistance to enable such persons to pursue their education, to undertake research or travel in furtherance of the aims
- provide prizes to be awarded to such persons.
The Trust will also be used in the broadening, correlation and dissemination of the understanding and knowledge of engineering science, art and practice.
Awards shall bear the names of the individual Charities and shall have regard to the provisions of the original Trusts.
