Recognition awards

Recognise the academic and professional achievements of your students or colleagues by nominating them for a recognition award.

The Institution is keen to recognise innovation and excellence in academia and industry. As a university head of department, you can reward outstanding and exceptional academic achievement by nominating your best students for recognition awards.

As a professional engineer, you can reward your colleagues and peers for their achievements which can truly be said to have improved the world, or advanced the discipline of mechanical engineering. Professional recognition awards acknowledge world-class research and innovation. The highest of these awards are the Institution’s two premier prizes, the Thomas Hawksley Gold Medal, which recognises the best original paper in a year, and the James Watt International Gold Medal, which recognises international achievement in applying science to progress mechanical engineering.
