Purpose:
To fund a postgraduate scholarship in mechanical engineering, particularly relating to the prime mover elements in systems designed to utlilise renewable sources of energy. The scholarship is awarded annually and is tenable for a period of two years.
Closing Date:
30 June each year.
Value:
Up to £6,500 p.a. (renewable annually for up to a maximum of two years, subject to satisfactory progress bing made.
Specific conditions:
- Applicants should have satisfied the academic requirements for IMechE membership.
- Applicants should preferably have completed a recognised form of apprenticeship.
- Progress reports will be required from the applicant.
Applications must be supported by three references:
- A senior representative from the organisation for which the applicant worked, whilst obtaining practical experience of engineering and who can vouch for the applicant's character and suitability for an IMechE award.
- The supervisor of the intended research programme.
- Someone who can state how an IMechE award will benefit the applicant's engineering development.
