Welcome to another year of Pressure Systems Group events and activities.
In terms of events, the 2010 Technical Programme will be available in the New Year, we have a series of topical seminars, and a prestige lecture.
Look out for the restructured website which will be full of useful information and details of how you can get involved in the group. There is also a discussion forum giving you an opportunity to communicate with other pressure systems engineers. Once again Strathclyde University is offering a range of short courses on pressure system design to supplement those available in the commercial sector.
The PSG Board will remain influential on issues of common concern, such as rogue materials, by facilitating giving discussion days and advice. The Group monitors and disseminates developments to national and international pressure equipment codes and standards, the Pressure Equipment Directives (through the Pressure Equipment Co-ordination Forum), as well as changes in health and safety regulations and guidance. Members of the Board represent the UK with the European Pressure Equipment Research Council (which is being reformed), and the International Council for Pressure Vessel Technology, whose conference in 2012 is planned for London.
Pressure Systems are a vibrant Group; your support of events in 2009 was one of the best ever. We are keen to further increase participation, so please encourage your company and colleagues to come to our 2010 events or get more involved in some other way.
Should you have any ideas or want to make a contribution you can contact me through the PSG Executive, Bubli Miah, psg@imeche.org or +44 (0)20 7304 6829.

Chairman, PSG Board
