The objectives of the Centre are to provide a forum in which engineering knowledge, experience and views can be exchanged between engineers working or connected with the power industries in the North West and Merseyside & North Wales regions of the IMechE, and kindred institutions or associations.
Fields of engineering covering steam plant, internal combustion engines, renewable energy, nuclear engineering and related energy topics are encompassed.
We welcome volunteers who wish to be considered to serve on the committee. Please contact the Chairman or Secretariat if you are interested.

2009-2010 ProgrammeRecent Changes in the Organisation of the PIDNWC
In January 07 the Greater Manchester Area Committee of the IMechE took on board the Power Industries Division North West Centre so that the same committee could represent the interests of both.
An Hon Sec (Richard Roberts) has been appointed for the secretarial requirements of the PIDNWC, and Paul Philip will continue as the Hon Sec of Greater Manchester Area (GMA). The same Hon Treasurer (Paul Jackson) will look after the finances of both organisations, although the accounts will be kept separate. David Ball is the Chairman of the combined committee.
With the recent formation of the Greater Manchester Area Committee, it seemed appropriate to integrate the future Power Industries activities in to their programme. The attendance at the GMA meetings in Manchester have gradually increased over the past two years as a result of continual improvements to publicity and communication and during the 2006/2007 season an average of 61 people attended the twelve events.
As agreed with the Power Industries Division Board each of the events organised by this combined committee will be joint events even though some of them will not be related to the power industry, but they will all be related to the Greater Manchester Area. This will ensure that each event has the same importance with regard to publicity and commitment.
