“Keeping the lights on, without costing the Earth”
The Power Industries Division promotes the safe, efficient, cost effective and environmentally sensible generation and utilisation of non motive electric power (both at utility and industrial scale) and provides a national and international focus for disseminating mechanical engineering knowledge and best practice in that field.
The Division has three sub-committees, Fossil, Nuclear and Renewables, each of which reflects the activities associated with generating and utilising electrical power, using a particular source of energy. Through these committees the Power Industries Division is responsible for organising a range of events throughout the year, which enable and encourage networking, refining of skills and continued professional development for mechanical engineers.
