**Deadline for Call for Presentations extended to August 2008**
IMechE’s Fossil Power Committee is pleased to announce that it is organising a two-day Conventional Power Boiler User Group meeting in November 2008.
The event format will encourage open debate and problem solving, using
informal presentations and discussion forums, to facilitate networking and sharing of experience among the conventional power boiler community.

At the moment, there is no established methodology within the power industry for undertaking plant assessment or requalification work in this situation, although various utilities and equipment suppliers employ their own approaches.
The objective of this one-day seminar is to bring together those with an interest in this field to discuss issues associated with life extension of power plant equipment.

The 81st Thomas Lowe Gray Memorial Lecture will be delivered by RAdm Nigel Guild on 'Aircraft Carriers for the Future'.
