Fossil Power Committee

About the Committee

The Fossil Power Committee is one of the Technical Activity Committees of the IMechE's Power Industries Division. Previously known as the Steam Plant Committee, we are a group of engineers concerned with and interested in equipment, which generates, uses or handles and controls steam. Today, this includes the application of Power Gas Turbines in Combined Cycle Plants as well as directly fired steam generators of all capacities and types, large and small capacity steam turbines and piping, valves and auxiliary equipment, whether exclusively for electricity generation or for Combined Heat & Power plants.

We try to highlight issues which are currently or likely to be of concern to Engineers, involved with the power industry. We have the help of the staff of the Institution to arrange seminars and conferences to enable these issues to be explained by the professionals directly involved and debated with others for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
