The aim of the Power Industries Division is to promote the safe, efficient, cost effective and environmentally sensible generation and utilisation of non-motive power and we will provide a national and international focus for the dissemination of mechanical engineering knowledge and best practice in that field.
The Division has three sub-committees that reflect various forms of the generation and utilisation of power. Through these committees the Power Industries Division is responsible for organising a number of events ( RSS feed ) throughout the year, which encourage the professional development of mechanical engineers.
We will promote the safe, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally sensible generation and utilisation of non-motive power and we will provide a national and international focus for the dissemination of mechanical engineering knowledge and best practice in that field. In particular, we will:
-
Comment on relevant /significant issues
-
Identify needs for research and development
-
Raise the profile of the engineering profession in the UK and world-wide
-
Liaise internally with the Divisions and Groups and externally with other Institutions and Learned Societies in the achievement of these objectives
The Board brings together not only captains of industry, but also academics, who together represent the engineers working within the power industries. Up to 30 people sit on the Division Board, who meet three times per year.
